hey guys and gals! it's been a while since i've stopped in. i kind of tapped out on stuff that i wanted to do to my car and my interests swayed.

i want to upgrade my car's horn to something REALLY loud. not quite train horn loud but close. something along the lines of police car loud. i don't want an air tank or anything but i do want the loudest electric horn out there. any ideas?

anyone know how many decibels our horns are pushing?

That is what I love about my Jeep Cherokee

I guess back in 89 they didn't have any restrictions on how loud your horn could be! I can scare the Piss out of little old ladys here in Florida!

Hella makes a set that are (if I remeber correctly) 118db at 10 ft. I installed them on my brother-in-laws STi. These things are F-ing LOUD! It will scare the piss out of anyone in front of you.

I plan on getting them, and putting them on my G. I am tired of people pulling out in front of me or cutting me off. They never do it to me when I am in my beat up Pathfinder. Or I'd run them over.

I am definitely going to buy one of these hornblasters next year. They will go wild on my street with this stuff.

Chad,

Welcome back. Please have some courtesy for people and install a dual stage horn. There's really no reason to cause an accident or a heart attack (seriously) when in normal driving. HWY is a different story.

Nate:

I have decided that the train horn is going to be the christmas gift to my self. I haven't figure out if i should install it in the little nissan or in the G-35 Coupe. I can't wait for Christmas--running around my neighborhood being a nuisance would be fun as hell for . I even plan to wait until 12 am in the morning to drive around my neighborhood and blow the friggin horn to get them thinking about the train man.

thanks for all the input, guys. as usual, when i decide i want something i stay up all night researching and then order something around 3 a.m. i got these....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...photo

here's a sound clip of what one of the two of these horns sounds like....http://www.esnips.com/doc/420c...aa/RW

again.... mine is a set of 2 horns! NICE!

i looked at hornblasters but they require an air tank.

i also looked at PIAA and Hella but they sound like a loud European car. i wanted a deep train sound without an air tank and these have it! they're out of Chrpus Christi and i'm in DFW so i'll have them in this weekend. i'll get back to you guys with a clip!

A long time ago, I drove a 1961 Austin Healey Sprite. It was the bugeye model with the headlights in the hood, not in the fenders. Even though this was before SUVs became popular, Sprite drivers had to worry constantly about being run over by drivers of full sized sedans and trucks.

My solution was air horns. No air tank was needed; the air supply came from a 12 volt compressor activated by the horn button. The horns saved me many times. It was actually funny to watch people's reactions when I gave them a blast and they discovered that there was a car next to them.

yeah, i measured it all out. they'll fit (hopefully) in front of the radiator, kind of where the stock horns are now. it'll probably take a litlle fabricating to make it fit but shouldn't be hard. i'm stoked!
