Started the project of trying to get my horn working because the previous owner didn't hook it up to the after market wheel. In search of the wires i needed i found some random crap under the steering wheel. They all go into the clifford 500 security system. I was just going to rip it out since half of the wiring isn't even connected to my battery. Apparently you can't do that because there is an immobilizer built into the system. This raises a few questions.
I believe the previous owner had an aftermarket security system in the car which could have screwed a few things up. For one the car didn't come with a key fob and there were no lock buttons so i thought i just had to use the key to lock and unlock everything. So i'm wondering if my difficulty starting my car is because of the security system they put in. When i turn the key i have to wait a few seconds then crank it. If that doesn't work the dash lights and radio turn off. I just keep trying till she starts. Also the little red led light on the dash is always on. Does this mean it is engaged? I read it she be off or blinking when armed? So long story short, what do i have to do to either bypass the system or get it working correctly? Also what wires do i need to get my damn horn to work lol.

I know the hard starting can becaused by other factors. I'm about to replace my fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator because they are both bad. Thought that might be my hard starting problems but now i think it could be this

The car is a 95 se btw. Thanks for the help

Hey WollyAjnin,
Just saw your post. I ran into the same problem when we bought our Zenki. Prior owner had a Viper system in it that was inoperable. When we put the car together it started a couple of times then it went to “no-crank”. That’s when I found the alarm wired into the car.

Basically what I did was remove the system temporarily. I used the wiring diagram in the service manual they have listed on this site to make sure I was connecting the right wires. I disabled the starter interrupt and was good to go.

Moving forward I bought the sister (low end) alarm system for our car. It was easy to wire in and we can use the electric door locks that come with the SE. I installed it direct to the car, not using the OE lock and alarm system. In this fashion we eliminated any possibility of cross failure / incompatibility.

If you get stuck on this repair, let me know and I can walk you through most of it. Removal of system should be easy, its just reconnecting wires. If you wish to retain a similar system we can do some research, I got mine for less than $150.00
