Ok, I have been dealing with a persistent P0400 error code which comes up and a no or low flow EGR. I checked the rubber tube that connects the EGR valve to that EGR saucer looking part I have no idea what it is called. I did not have the correct size hose, so I rigged up something from the parts I had in my toolbox and used a hose clamp to keep it tight.
Took off the EGR valve and cleaned the little bits of carbon I could find and was able to pull out the EGR tube far enough (cannot pull it out completely without pulling the intake or the engine because it hits the firewall) and there was very little carbon inside. Still I kept getting the P0400 code after only driving a few days around town.
I went to the dealer last week and looked up the correct hose and ordered it even though I was quoted $35. the part arrived the next day and it cam attached to the stainless hose that screws into the EGR valve. I installed it and cleared my CEL code. I will drive it for a little bit in town and on the highway and hopefully I can post back that I have solved my EGR no flow problem.
If anyone is having this issue and tried to fit their own version of a vacuum hose on there with no success hopefully they can read this post and get the part they need. Either my make shift hose was too large in diameter or it was not thick enough to prevent it from collapsing. Remember, there are extremely hot exhaust gases going thru this hose so the replacement has to be able to stand up to those temperatures as well.
Hope someone out there finds this useful.
Take care!! Ted GO USA!!!
