Hopefully an exhaust question that has not been asked before...

Hey folks,

I have a '06 G35x sedan with auto transmission.

I recall NISMO making an exhaust for the G35 sedans called the "Weldina". Is this still available? I only ask because I would like to have an exhaust that sounds more like the 350Z as I like the stock "burble" sound it makes. The sedans have the characteristic burble sound but it's soooo subdued. Also, this Z-tube I have been reading about, does it make the engine sound more like the Z's by removing the resonator?

I think I read in Nissan Sport Magazine that the transmission for AWD cars cannot take more than 350HP. Any truth to this? Do the X drivers out there need to stay away from forced induction?

Hi Nautilus,

You might want to look into getting a coupe mid-pipe. This 30lb piece makes the sedan much quieter and subdued. I'm not sure about the exhaust.

As for the transmission. I'm sure you could upgrade the transmission to handle more than that, but it might be limited in the stock form.

I've looked for a g35X that's done FI, but I've yet to find one.

Thanks. Any thoughts on the Z-tube and whether by removing the stock tube which houses the resonator will make the car sound more Z/G35 coupe-like?

The Z-tube should make the intake a little louder. Both the G35 sedan and coupe have a multi-chamber intake system to muffle the intake. Only the Z is "straight".

I would start with the z-tube and coupe mid-pipe if possible (not sure how the AWD system affects that).

Then look into a Plenum spacer and exhaust.

agree with this completely.

Assuming the coupe midpipe fits (and i see no reason it shouldnt since the sedans should have the same exhaust).

Yep, I also agree with Nate above.

I had the G35C mid-pipe and z-tube on my 05 sedan.Gave it a little louder growl.Here is what it sounded likehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIF-GD-WaH8

Here is a comparison of the midpipes

Only problem I had with the install was the cross-bar. The pipe will rub against it unless you remove it or bend it. I removed it.

I recently traded the sedan for a coupe..

i just recently installed the stillen z-tube and now have a noticable louder intake and a light sucking noise. I also have a K n N drop in filter... i guess that added the slight sucking noise...

im still debating on getting a jwt pop charger because i like the sound of my current drop-in filter and z-tube combo, and the pop chargers hp gains are all at the top end. Im not always at full throttle... so it dosent seem worth it to me.

The coupe midpipe will be my next upgrade after i recieve my SBD grounding wires. i want to do a full stillen sedan true dual exhaust, but i dont have a grand to drop on that right now. the mid pipe is $330 from the dealer(called about it today), and $273(not including shipping) from g35parts.com

Check in the Classifieds (here on NICO) and on Craigslist. You'll probably find a coupe mid for much less.

Check to make sure you don't have a leak anywhere. Sometimes the sucking noise is normal, sometimes it's a loose seal.

I emailed you regarding your kit.

i will tripple check for a leak... but the sucking/whinning noise comes after i release the throttle... as the rpms drop you can hear it... and just befefore the rpms get high and all you hear is the engine/exhaust...

thx for the update on the wires... and i been hearing about craigs list... i'll check it out.
