hope i didn't screw anything up

was popping off the plastic surrounding the shifter to get to the radio. when I put the plastic back on the shifter It started to not shift smoothly from gear to gear and the little red gear indicator to the left of the shifter is not aligning with its slot. wht did i mess up. Or do i need to find a way to get the red indicator lined back up with its slots. If you are wondering what i am talking about with the shift indicator. when you shift to reverse you can barely see it when you get to drive you can see it a little more when you get to manual you can see it better but not fully like it use to be. I am hoping that is the reason it is not shifting smooth and not anything serious

Sounds like the shifter is misaligned.

I can't help you because I have a manual. Maybe Steve will chime in with some help.
