ok, this shows the connections we made. the red buttconnectors are the DET connections, one is not on it in the pic.

what you do is trace the gray wire comming out of the DET sensor. its a single shielded cable that has two wires in side it. trace it up into the harness it should be cut or have a connector on the end of it, mine had a connector spliced onto it , but it wasnt the right connector. take the connector off strip the ends of the two wires, now go into the harness near where you spliced in the big connector. there should be either a shielded cable or two wires , a black and a white i think.

joe can help explain alittle more i kinda forget and he did the wire work him self while i watched.

Fo shizzle.....

Here is what we did......

Locating the wireOn your lower transmission harness there is a shielded wire that goes up to your DET/Knock sensor. What you need to do is go ahead and unwrap your lower harness. Just take the couple pieces of tape off it and pull some of the wires back out of the loom.

There should be a pretty good sized, almost 8 ga gray wire in there. That is the signal wire for the detonation sensor. On some cars, depending on who did your wiring, you have an extra plug by the fuse box on the CA lower transmission harness that has nothing to plug into on the KA side of the harness. That is your connector for the Det sensor also.

Now that you have located it here is what you need to do. If you still have the connector on there, should be a black and a white wire, just cut the connector off and sell it on eBay. You don't need it anymore. If you have already cut the connector off or don't have one, what you need to do is trace back that wire until you find the black wire that is shielded in with the white wire. Should be somewhere up under the intake manifold by the sensor itself.

Once you have the 2 seperate wires, go ahead and strip them back enough for either a butt connector or enough for soldering them back in the main harness.

Putting it where it goesOn your main CA harness coming from the ECU is where this needs to be hooked into. Go ahead and undo the Big 8 Pin Gray Connector and unwrap the the harness. Now again.... depending on who did you wiring it will vary at this point.

I did my own wiring by cutting off the CA connectors and splicing in the KA connectors, but that is besides the point. Unwrap far enough on your harness and find the unused black and white wires in the harness, those go to the ecu for the det sensor. Just match up the colors and secure it all back with tape.

Checkin yo' work foooooOnce you have the wires back together, go ahead and pull your ecu out and turn the ignition to ON. Count the blinks.... once you have 3 blinks with both the red/green, turn the screw to go into MODE 3. Wait a few seconds and count the blinks. If you have five blinks for red and five blinks for green, you are all set!

Go ahead and recheck your timing. Jon's was almost 10 degrees off without the det sensor hooked up.

And you are done!
