Hooking up gauges need alittle help

Ok,Im hooking up Autometer Boost,Oil psi,Water temp gauges on my 92 240sx.Whats the best 12volt source to run all three to light them up.Thanks,

I used the red/blue (pretty sure thats the color) going to the dash light dimmer switch. You have to take off the bigger panel underneath the steering wheel, then its pretty obvious if you just find the switch. If you wire it up this way, your gauges will light up whenever your dash lights are on.

My dash lights dont light up!could never figure it out,So is anywhere else good to hook them up too?

lol! well you probably have blown lamps (or a fuse)... Do you have an electrical multimeter? You most likely still have power on that red/blue wire since it goes to other things besides the dash lights-- it would be a lot easier to find out if you actually had a tester.

Try the wire, if it dont work-- then fix your dash lights you momo! haha

Cool,Ill get a tester and try the wire,As for the dash lights no need to fix them,I got Super JDM euro race car reverse indiglo gauges.lolI like them.

All I put in was an Autometer Boost gauge and I cut the cig lighter out with a dremell and stuck it in there.

Used the power wire that was used for the cig lighter too...

so it lights up when the parking lights come on...

Anand- what did you use for the gauge power? ...Not the power for the lighting (white wire) but power for the gauge itself (red wire, assuming you got an electrical gauge)? Instructions say you should have a power that is on during crank... just wondering what you used for yours?

I don't have a elec gauge, it's a mech boost gauge.

so all i needed power for was the light for the gauge

I was wondering if anyone has an answer for the question of where to hook up electrical gauges for main power. I am about ready to get a set of gauges, only 2 for now, but in time (with turbo) may grow to 4 or 5. Anyway, I am wanting to run electrical ones, and I heard you can use the same wire that powers the stereo, but will this hold 4-5 gauges + the stereo? Any insight is helpful, thanks.

I have AFR and voltmeter and I run the powerwire to the fusebox...

Well to solve you little problem, with the greatest of ease and without fear of blwing anything up you can use a relay. Use your light switch, or radio power, or key acc wire for the switch part, then run a standard 12 gauge wire to the relay from the battery, it will provide enough power for up to four gauges, if you need more gauges then add more relays and piggy back the switch and battery wires. the realy will hook up exactly like the relay for after market drivings lights.
