I cut a hole. There are guys planning on having the hood massaged and bulged for added clearance as well. I am sure there is an aftermarket hood available with enough clearance for the VH as it only sits about an inch higher than stock.

I am planning on scuffing up the hood with some 60 grit and glassing a bulge on it. Something smooth and factory like. I keep toying with the idea of garaging it for another year and building it up to look like the 300ZX-GTS1 car. That would be sweet, a ton more work but the end result would be bananas!

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

I will post some pics later, maybe tomorrow. With my motor mounted, and everything on it, pan, wiring and all, I have less then 1" gap, from hood closing correctly, all around, With Nicks the other night, his latched, with it hinged in place. Since the gap on mine is so small, I have shaved my intake, down to the height of the emblem recession, and am taking out the hood reinforcement in the center, TB area, Then I may need a lil buldge, but probably not. Making it Front sump, there is no oil feed line that has to pass over Steering Rack, getting the pan as close to SR as I can, solid mounts, It sits really low, and should get under the hood. If you want a hood scoop, there are aftermarket, and hoods available that will clear, but keep in mind that the main clearance problem is around the TB and its intake pipe.

If you get it down this low, you will have to do some frame/header adjusting, I needed 3/4" just to bolt up the mounts, and it still rests on them a bit. Lots of work still to do. Good luck with your ride
