Can you not just use the latch?

I would suggest just not doing the hood pins at all. I've always found them pretty tacky

Put tape on both side of the hood before drilling into hood.

The top piece of tape helps keep the drill bit from moving around and the bottom lets you know when you have broken through.

Another tip is put something like paint on the tip of the pin so when you close your hood on it you can see a dot on the tape exactly where the pin hits the hood. measure twice, drill once

If the hood rattles, you might be able to put some small rubber bumper things at certain points. I would never use hood pins, I've seen too many damaged roofs from hoods popping up, and even had a ford focus that had the hood slam up into the windshield and roof right in front of me.

If you install hoodpins correctly your hood will never ever flip up like that.

I think they are tacky too, but they will definitely keep your hood down.

I think you guys are misinterpreting the use of hood pins. When used in tandem with your stock latch it saves your expensive carbon fiber from spider cracking and splitting in the corners

I agree with the use of tape to reinforced the area while being drilled. Go slow with a small good quality bit, just to start the hole. Keep the bit straight, do not force it. Ensure to mark the area of the hole by the method somebody explained. Use chalk or white out on top of the pin and close th e hood to mark the exact point. Make sure to identify where the pins are going ahead of time, there are two holes already in the hood support bar that you can just redrilled for a higher size for the pins.
