I have been trying to fix my keyless entry for several days now. I have replaced the theft control unit because the alarm was going off for no reason. Since I replaced it the alarm has not gone off. The door switches and hatch switch are all good. When I pop the hood is the security light supposed to flash like it does with a door open or hatch open? I have the original remote for the car but it doesn't work at all. I purchased a new aftermarket key fob but I can't get my car into program mode. I am questioning the hood switch since the security light does nothing when hood is open. Could this be why my car won't go into program mode? I have tried no less than 30 times following this procedure, open hatch, lock driver door, insert key 6-8 times within 10 seconds, unlock and lock driver door but nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My security light always flashed when I had the hood open, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to when anything is open like the doors and hatch do. Not sure about programming it though. My factory system would randomly go off all the time like yours did so I just removed the control unit entirely and called it a day.

Disconnect the hood switch. Problem solved.
