Hi.

I have a 96 infiniti I30 which is 131k on it. The hood support lost the power to hold. Can I fix them or need to replace? Would let me know where can I get a reasonable price if it is replaced?

Thanks.

I heard of many people having weak hood shocks(is that what theyre called?) myself included and I think youre better off just replacing them. As for the best prices I'm not sure, I'm guessing your local parts store should carry them.

I just replaced the hoods shocks on my 95 Maximaand the 98 Maxima

They were "Might ?", I cant remember the name but they work great!

The parts were from Auto Zone.

You have to unscrew the mounting bolts for the shockout of the car body first. This will remove the entire assembly.

Next put in the new bolts which have a round ball head on topof them. I used Anti-sieze on the bolt threads. Make sure you have them turned the right way thenpush the shock on there with moderate pressure. May have to turn the shock sideways after you secure the first end of it butI didnt have to extend it out much to secure it to both bolt ends The ball insidethe shock opening will move to allow a seating on the round head.

The directions are pretty bad to read on the package and they recomendyou have someone to hold the hood but I didn't.

Its really a whole lot easier to do than to explain

Including me who've just put on a new one 3 days ago.It cost me $30 on eBay (which comes out didnt work) or $80 for OEM parts.

Your call, but it feels much better once it's replaced
