The first thing I noticed when I popped the hood on my (wife's) '03 G35 sedan (purchased 5 days ago) was that there were no hood lift struts. Even though this isn't a 'loaded', 'all-options' model I still expected hood struts.

Did any '03s come with them? Is it possible to add them? There certainly appear to be enough holes and punch-outs in the underside of the hood and engine bay to accomodate strut mounts.

Thanks!

Yes that is an inexpensive upgrade. I would go for it if my car did not have one. They fixed this with the 07 sedan and the 08 coupe. It goes from $30.

Should I just grab a set of off-the-shelf trunk-mount struts then? (Like from my local Murray's, PepBoys, or AutoZone autoparts stores)

Try that link. It's for the hood dampers from Tein. I do not know anything about that website though. Just looked up the information because I had seen them before.
