Anyone know how to replace the hood release cable? Mines stretched and doesn't want to pop the hood. I need to replace it. Pics would be great. It's a 1990 s13. Thanks

i dont have pics, but its fairly easy.

you have to disconnect the end of it where its connects to the hood latch assembly. theres a small spring that youll have to remove. unless you get a new spring, dont lose it. youll probably need to take the whole hood latch assembly off to make it easier to get to.

then you just need to feed the cable out till the firewall. i dont remember if theres bolts or screws holding the handle in the dash in place, but take those out, and then the whole cable should be able to slide right out.
install is just reverse of that
hope this helps.

Thank you. I've been meaning to replace my cable for a while. I have a new cable I'm just waiting to go to the junkyard and get a new hood hinge mine is messed up it doesn't allow the hood to close all the way unless I move the thing next to the hinge with a screwdriver lol so thanks

not a problem. i dont think im missing anything major. might be a slight pain getting it in and out of the firewall cause of the rubber grommet thing.

I'm sure you got everything. If anything ill figure out the test. I think the hardest part is going to be removing the cable from the hinge by the radiator. And putting the new one on. The rest sounds easy.
