Hey guys,

I have a 2002 Qx4 and i have noticed while i am driving i can see the hood slightly bouncing up and down. The hood latch does not seem to hold the hood that tight. Anyone else experince this? Any ideas how to stop it? The latch and latch release all look normal.

Thanks.

Never experienced before but

Check the hinges at the back end of the hood if your latch is good than the mounts closer to your dash may be an issue.

Good luck

I have the same thing. I got in an accident a while ago and it messed up my hood latch alignment (the hood made a loud bang when it went up/down on the highway). Even after I had the latch adjusted I noticed that the hood still bounced up and down on the highway. I took it to Nissan and they said it's perfectly normal for a little up/down movement at high speeds. If you can actually hear the hood bouncing up and down, then your hood latch definitely needs to be re-adjusted.

I had the same problem and resolved it by turning the two rubber bump stops at each corner of the hood to the left. If you turn them left and they'll go up about 1/2" and make a tighter seal between the hood and the frame. Hope that works for you.

Thanks i will give the rubber bump stops a try.

Its not at high speeds but just at any speed if i hit a sharp bump i see it bounce a bit. The latch latches the hood just fine but you are able to pull up on it a little and wiggle it. Thanks for the help

There's two adjustments: The latch determines how far UP it goes, the rubberbump stops determine how far DOWN it goes. What you want is UP=DOWN.Do the adjustments in baby steps. In theory, if you get the bump stops uptoo high relative to the latch, you might have trouble getting the hood open.On my '01, it's trivial to pop the grill out. I think I'd do that to have access tothe latch in case it gets stuck. You might also be able to adjust the bump stopsthough the grill area with the hood down.

I did not know this, I will definitely have to give this a try tomorrow! Thanks!
