I tried searching but didn't come up with what i was looking for. My question is can you just drill into a carbon fiber hood or is there another way. I've heard that drilling holes for pins messes up the hood. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

That sucks, carbon fiber hoods don't come with stock latches? =\

they do come with latches... but due to its light weight, at high speeds, it's a bit flimsy, and it wobbles, and there's a chance of the latch breaking off and the hood flying off

here's something that sounds even dumber: what are hood pins for? I searched once and came up with nothing.

It's a "cooler" way to fasten your hood down. Instead of (or in conjunction with) a traditional hood latch mechanism, you have two holes in your hood through which go a couple pins with a hole through them aswell. I think a couple cotter pins then go through those holes and hold the hood down. It's mainly for looks, but I guess can be a safety measure.

Sec, and I'll link you to what happens when you don't use hood pins with a CF hood.

Edit: nvm, they took the pics down already.

Story: Guy on 3si bought a cf hood for his 3kgt, main latch failed at around 60mph, hood flew up, broke in half and landed on the side of the highway. Bent the two arms where the hood attached to as well. Use hood pins, please.

thanks for the info. I was serious though you could type in "hood pins" on google and get no helpful results.

Yes please do. A kid's CF hood on his 98 Lude ended up smacking the windshield. VERY dangerous and costly if you dont use pins.
