Do any of you have one of those composite hood mounted bug deflector, you know the ones that look smoked?

Obviously I know their primary task is for bugs but how good are they on the Versa in as far as deflecting small stones over the verhicle to prevent stone from chipping the paint.

IMHO - Today's Deflector's are for looks (they do look nice on some cars). Yes, they do deflect road stuff if you take a direct hit on the deflector. The older ones (more then twice as high) actually worked (I've had them both - did change the flow of water during heavy rains). The new ones are simply tooooooo low to really do any good.

The more modern solution is something made by 3M called the ClearBra. It's basically a moderately thick layer of clear vinyl that is laid over the front of the car, including part of the hood. If any rocks hit it, the vinyl takes the damage as opposed to the paint.
