A few days ago i got a siebon cf hood. Everything is great all the fitment and everything except the hood wont latch. I thought it was cause the latch was to tight. So i took it off the car and looked at it.

I took the spring off my hood latch after soaking it in some WD-40. The latch became alot looser so i put it back on the car. Still no dice.

I looked up the part numbers between the 95-96 and the 97-98 and the hood latch is the same. So i took these pictures maybe someone has some ideas cause im stumped. i showed the front of the car and the two headlights to show fitment. i dont think the bumper and headlights are to high.

As you can see in the final picture the hood cannot go any farther down to go into the correct latching position. I have no idea why this would be the case. i doubt the seibon hood is wrong but stranger things have happened. Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Id hate to have to tap two new holes in the core support.

loosen the 2 bolts on each side of the hood latch and push it up should fix your problem

If the holes arent notched enough you can dremel them out to get some more adjustment

take the latch up before the hood decided to get busy with the windshield. Pins / lathes is the way to go with a non metal hood.

No kidding, I would never rely on the latch alone with a billion dollar CF hood. Don't cheap out on hood pins, either or you'll end up like White Comet.

You guys didnt get the memo?

J14 says hoodpins are hella stupid. They sent him some for free with his hood since you'd be a tard to run a CF hood without them but hes gonna give them away

Thanks for the input but i think i would have thought of that by now.

All do respect to the mod but I hate hood pins. They gave me a free set with the hood and im not gonna use them. i cant see spending 500 for a hood that im gonna drill 2 holes in. i was thinking of some sort of cable attached to the underside of the hood for added protection but the dealer says they have never had a problem and say you dont have to use hood pins they just have to say that for liability reasons.

I think im gonna latch the hood with it unbolted and then tac weld it in place thd then weld it up with the hood open. i cant really think of any other alternatives. Im just wondering why im having this problem to begin with.

If you notice in the pic there is a bend in the metal that wont let the bolt holes be dremeled out but that is a good suggestion.

Keep em coming before i permanantly weld my hood latch in place

with all the threads and pictures etc of cf hood latches RIPPING OFF the hood itself youd have be a moron not to use some pins of some sort. welding the hood latch in place is a bad idea. if you dont like the ricer looking hood pins look into the aero catch ones.

You really don't understand liability do you? That doesn't mean that the government will come after them if they don't give you hood pins. What that means is that either they had a hood fly off or they heard of someone's hood flying off because it wasn't properly attached. They now give you hood pins so that if you chose not to use them and your hood flies off they can tell you to screw off and it's not their problem because you didn't use the proper safety hardware that they provided you with. I'm sure that's in the small print somewhere but I'd be willing to bet anything that that's what they mean by "liability purposes." It's to save them legal hassles if your hood flies off, nothing else.

Taken from seibon's very own Terms and Conditions (http://www.seiboncarbon.com/co...tions Installation section):

"All hoods require hood pins for safety reasons"

So going back to liability reasons. (lol) Seibon says that if you don't use pins or latches you are not covered should it fly off.

Thanks for all the input guys i think you have talked some sense into me. I am going to post a poll later on what i should do. Ill post pics of another system and see if anyone sees a problem with it and if not ill go with it. If not i guess i HAVE to get hood pins. Ive been doing to much research and finding to many "my hood flew up and caused 2000+ worth of damage to my car"
