So lately I've noticed my hood when shut was sticking up past the fender on the passenger side. looked like the hood needed a alignment. I opened it up and noticed the hood hinge was cracking in the middle caused by the pivot points sticking. So every time I opened the hood I was bending the hinge right down the middle. So I had some extra time on my hands and took the hinge off, and sprayed some PB blaster in there to free up the pivot points. Then I took my grinder and ruffed up the paint were the crack was. I took my mig welder and welded it. Back to the grinder got most of the weld spatter off. sparyed some flat black paint on there to prevent rust. Installed it. Then I put some lithium grease on the pivot points. Just for all of you dont forget to maintain those hinges.

You can see that there is a gap there between the hood and the hinge. (from the darn thing bending) It's just a getto fix. As for the overspray I used my buffer to get off. I should of sprayed it before installing it.

I bet a new hinge isn't that expensive.

Makes me want to go lube my hinges again... You're lucky it broke there instead of seizing and "tacoing" the hood!

Yes, know. I had to fix it fast. There's a 95 in the junk yard right down the street from me. I'm going to grab another one along with the transmission control module.
