I was going through one of the forums for my Honda, when I came across that the newer Accord's hood is fluttering on highway speeds. Some have also mentioned that when they rented a Nissan Altima, they also noticed it. However, I have seen this issue on our 2016 Nissan Rogue SL, and wondering if you all have noticed this issue.

The first time I drove the Rogue into a strong headwind it scared the heck out of me. I thought the hood wasn't properly shut down and that it was going to fly off any second. Now I realise it is "normal" hmm..

Not actually on any of my Rogues, but my latest Pathfinder had a significant hood flutter at highway speeds. I would pull off of the road and check it to see if the stops were adjusted properly and seeing that they appeared to be, would carry on. Since it did not appear to be excessive, I just ignored it. I traded it in shortly thereafter for another Rogue and didn't have that concern anymore.

100% normal due to the very light aluminum hoods used on modern cars like our Rogue. Nothing to be worries about as it helps with the MPG

No flutter on my 11 but maybe that’s a newer model issue. You should be able to adjust the hood stops to prevent most or all of that.

X2 to the last post. Run the hood bumpers up a bit more, they have a slight range to be able to preload the hood more or less. You want the hood to not shake overall. Get them right and it stops. You don't want any fluttering even more in an aluminum part as aluminum work hardens with working it to then crack. Now if the outer perimeter of hood is not moving but portions inside are that will be a design issue and pretty much not fixable unless one takes the time to add more support under hood to stiffen it on their own.

Many OEM designed hood bumpers are utter crap and back off easily and at times I've had to make my own that had positive stops to be solid as a rock once I get them adjusted where I want.

I've never seen a hood I couldn't stop that on.

I readjusted the hood stops and haven't seen any flutter since then, which is a good sign. I am not even sure why Nissan just didn't align the hood stops completely in the first place to not cause this issue.

Like I said they can change with use. One car I had they needed working on every week and why I fixed the problem permanently. They typically tighten the bumpers to hand tight by lifting up on the hood and no more and OK, the vibration can then occur later as they don't drive the cars enough to have it develop. Vibration often having to work on a thing for while before it gets looser to really make noise or effect. If they had a guy simply checking for that alone they could fire him and save another $80K a year, a waste of money.

Yeah. Just hope someone in the Nissan executive department will read this and give an answer.

You need to understand that rubber parts often take a different set as they run in to maybe need another adjust, there is absolutely nothing Nissan executive can do to change that. Simple physics that have to be dealt with on the fly. Everything in the universe goes from a state of higher order to a state of lower order, the only thing changing that is human intervention.

FYI, on my Fords I use 7/16 steel studs and Home Depot $2 furniture leg bumpers LOL, they have lasted for years once adjusted. More FYI........on my two Tempos the hood line would bend out of line from the fender line even with all corners dead even. I found out the steel hoods were so lightweight you could actually rebend the hood edges BY HAND to get them back perfect again. Pretty funny.
