How many people out there have a hood mounted bug deflector? Anybody have pictures, and how effective do you think it is at saving the hood from rock chips, or is it more a decorative piece to improve the look more than anything? If you've bought one, what was the cost? Thanks in advance!

I have never seen one yet. AFAIK they are not on the market yet.

IMHO, paint protection film like the 3M stuff is the best for a nearly invisible appearance and maximum protection. Expect to pay between $100-200 depending on product used and coverage area.

I have used hood deflectors in the past and although they help, they always seem to rub on the grille and trap dirt. Once you take the deflector off, you are left with quite a mess.

That's awesome Paul, you've got the same color Rogue as me too, so that really helps me out. I think it looks better and improves the look, with the deflector.

I stand corrected. Thanks paulvanharte

I did have a dealer installed bug guard on my Altima. It rubbed on the chrome grille near the corners to the point it wore through the chrome and into the plastic. Another OEM Nissan hood deflector for my Pathfinder trapped dirt along it's lower edge and wore right through the paint causing rust. Also, to do a proper cleaning you need to remove the deflector... what a PITA. I have personally have given up on them.

I just found another Rogue sitting on a dealer lot with a hood bug deflector. It was at Brantford Nissan in Ontario, Canada. Like I said in another post, this is an aftermarket option and not an OEM part. Not all Nissan dealers will carry them so try phoning around.

I don't know where you are getting your info but I had a Nissan bug deflector installed on my new Rogue when I purchased it from Greg Vann Nissan in Cambridge last October so they were available since than.

It's does not appear to be an OEM Nissan part so you cannot go to any dealer to buy one. This is why it appears many cannot find one. Aftermarket vendors like Lund and Weathertech do hot have them either. Obviously some mfg is producing and selling them to dealers but not aftermarket part stores, etc.

BTW, my Rogue is from Greg Vann Nissan as well.

Well isn't that strange because I bought the first Rogue from Greg Vann and he had the deflector than, and I understand it came from Nissan because it was in the Nissan accessories book

Unfortunately the Greg Vann Nissan had only given me an accessories 'card' and nowhere was a plastic/lexan deflector listed or offered as an option too me. Otherwise, I would have been better informed.

Anyone know where you can buy a rogue bug deflector in the States?

There is another thread regarding bug deflectors. You can find it in the Official Rogue FAQ. Here is the direct link for you:

zerothread/340282

The deflector is manufactured in Canada by Focus Auto Design and is available through Canadian Nissan dealers. Nissan dealers in the USA do not carry them.

The only US distributor/dealer I know of is: AutoFrills.com. The part # for the Rogue is not listed, but should be available as a special order item. Please contact AutoFrills.com for more information. One of our forum members was able to special order the part and it shipped direct to them.

So far I have not seen any other vendors of this product.

I have updated the thread with the lastest 'installed' photos that I could find:

Please read the following thread for US dealers of this product:

zerothread/340282

http://www.autofrills.com imports the deflector from Focus Auto Design in Canada. Call them for pricing and availability.

http://www.wooddash.com sells a similar deflector. Not sure if it's the same one made by Focus Auto Design.
