I am seriously thinking about trading/selling my coupe in June once the Nissan Skyline GT-R is released here in the US.

The vehicle just looks and performs amazing and I can't wait to test drive one as soon as they are available from my Nissan Dealership.

Wow, its a awesome car but for that coin I would order a new ZR1 Vette and and a STI (for the winter) and still be ahead and faster

that might depend on if its ON or OFF the track lol jk

haha the GTR may perform better, but the price difference/the hassle i would take a STi over it anyday IMO

too each his own though, world is a very diverse place.

I believe only 10,000 are being produced this year, of which 5000 will stay on the other side of the Pacific as a RHD.

Yeah, they're only $70K, but remember, only 5000 will hit US shores this year so people are more than willing to dish out double the price. I remember when the EVO first came to the US; someone I know paid $65K for a $35K car just to be the first in Hawaii to own one.

The $150k mark is the amount people are putting down to hold there own GTRs' spot. Whether they are getting a portion of that back, I dont know. This number came from a buddy of mine at my dealership. This is what someone else has already done

You know, a bit off topic, but i'm tired of seeing comparisons between the 911 and the GTR, if nissan's target, or anyones target was a specific car, then obviously they would not release it unless it was some how better. i was to see a comparison between the GTR and the Audi R8

I really don't see how the Skyline really gets anyones attention. Except for the body style. Earlier I saw someone say the ZR1 Corette being faster.. Most definately.

Forget the Skylines! I wanna see more Sylvias! Think they are comming back with them in 2010 or 11 as rumors go.

It's not a "Sylvia." It has an "i." Silvia. Anyway, following your comment, you are saying you would rather see more 240's than R34's?

Not everyone is going be able to afford the new R35, therefore its a crucial move if Nissan USA starts to build a new Silvia. There are lots of people who would settle for the prestige of a Silvia over the cost of the R35

r&t tested base gt-r, where did you get that they tested a v-spec?

the car they tested was 480 hp, it beat the z06 by 5 secs a lap

the v-spec is supposed to have something like 530 hp, which will probably shave another second off the gt-r's lap time...the zr1 with an extra 120 hp will probably be right in the range of the gt-r in terms of lap times

They are both great cars, and I doubt your gonna get a ZR1 at sticker since there only expected to built 2000 the first year....But with "ENZO" quality breaks and a lighter curb weight I dont see GT-R lapping any track quicker then the ZR-1.(Both driven by pro drivers) I will say being a Auto and all the electronic controls and AWD the GT-R will be easier to drive near the limits..Both cars are really a great bang for the buck at STICKER price IMO.

i think youd be surprised at how hard it is to make up the 5 second advantage that the gt-r has over the z06 currently

i think that the zr1 will be right around the gt-r in lap times, and itll be fun to run them against each other

people will bring up that the z06 is already faster in 1/4 mile and the zr1 will be 6/10ths or whatever theyre saying faster, but anybody who thinks a true sports car should even have 1/4 mile times considered in its development is out of their mind
