Hey all, I figure this could go in another forum, but I just love hearing from y'all so much I thought I'd put it here. Plus I'm most interested in this for the CA, obviously.

First off, I did a quick search, not a terribly long search, and found one thread in here about this, but it was mostly discussion and didn't go into much detail.

So I was talking with a friend the other day and he said something about an SR20 running on Hondata. At first I thought it was stupid, then after about five seconds I thought that was about the most ingenious thing I had heard. It allows for use of a MAP sensor over a MAF, it's relatively cheap, and tons of tunability available. I mean, the ecu doesn't know what motor it's running. All it sees are a set of inputs and makes a set of outputs accordingly. So as long as all the inputs are there, there isn't any reason for it not to work.

I looked into it a bit from the problems I could think of, and all I can see wrong is the ignition. Hondata does make a COP conversion for the B-Series, but it still utilizes the distributor for the ignition timing and signal. I saw one or two people saying they'd make an adapter to fit the Honda distributor to whatever motor they wanted to run. My thinking would be, is there any way to replicate the signal the Honda ecu needs using our Nissan hardware or by some other means? The problem I'm seeing is I don't know how Honda's see their ignition signal. I know our motors receive a series of pulses set off by basically a wheel with slits in it to let light go through and trigger the signal for each degree of rotation and a few extras for TDC, if I remember correctly. So what do Honda's do?

So what does everyone else think about running a CA, or any other motor for that matter, with Hondata S300, Neptune, ect.? I don't particularly want to hear opinions about what other EMS to use, because that's what seems to pop up in every other thread. I'm more curious about what is needed to make this idea work. Whether I actually want to do it or not, the concept is still intriguing. Any thoughts?

My thoughts, do it and tell us about it, LOL!
