I have been reading the RB forums here and some others on the web, and came across more than once people using the type-2 honda antifreeze, anyone currently using this? For you that don't know what it is, it's almost a synthetic blend (blue in color) antifreeze that is supposed to cool the engine better (I've heard up to 15 degrees cooler) and it is only like three bucks more a gallon... Any helpful advice, or suggestions, I'm thinking about flushing the system and putting this in!

It's only compatible with variable timing engines.

I too have heard its one of the best coolants on the market. I'm fine with my Autozone coolant/water/Redline watter Wetter.

Variable timing engines only, man, that's funny!

"better cooling coolant" doesn't do anything for you unless your cooling system isn't up to par. The thermostat controls the engine temp, and if your cooling system is adequate, you're not going to run any cooler.

Now IF your radiator is too small/plugged up, and you're having problems with keeping the engine temps down, THEN a bandaide might be to change to a better cooling coolant.

The honda's run that because they often use very small radiators and need the extra heat transfer capabilities.

I'm going to mention this to my coworker. His domestic is all kinds of hopped up but it overheats all the time, even with a huge rad, whenever he goes to drag racing.. lol. I already told him to try water wetter though. He's been running plain 50/50, not exactly optimal for drag season in Texas.

He needs to be running straight water and redline in the summer.

The redline has the anti-corrosive properties you need, so the coolant mix is superfluous during the summer.

Hmmm, I remember when changing the coolant in my BMW it was blue. That stuff cost me 20 bucks a gallon. A lot of 90s BMWs were notorious for cooing problems. Maybe they used this "synthetic blend" as a "bandaid"
