There's a touching moment near the end with one of Honda's Marysville, Ohio production line workers from 1990.

Why does the old Accord look so much better when its next to the new one?

Its awesome and kind of surprising that they gave him a new car. I'm guessing he was the first owner?

Thats what I am thinking and I bet he brought his car to the dealership everytime it was ready for service.

They couldn't give him a V6 model? Or one with leather. C'mon Honda! Don't be so cheap!

I thought he same thing. I'm guessing because the old one is smaller, lower, sleeker, more nimble, and acheives pretty much the same gas mileage without needlessly complex silly hybrid technology.

Good question. I'm guessing he is too. That is an impressive milestone. That works out to over 47,600 per year, or 130.5 miles per day, every day since it was new.

I only have 796000 miles to go with my 4Runner. I don't see it happening for me.

Yes, he's the original owner of the vehicle to my knowledge. That's pretty classy of Honda to give him a new vehicle, but I don't think i'd be willing to try that with my car. That's a testament to Honda reliability for sure, but i'd be shocked if the new one lasts that long.

I would love to know what all was replaced on that accord.

You're an original transmission. :chuckle:

Also, of course it had parts changed. Definitely new rings and bearings, gaskets, and suspension parts for sure. You know that you can't run brake rotors that long, nor can you run wheel bearings, etc, for that long either.

There's a guy who used to post in the Q45 section a few years ago who had an early 90s Accord with about 400k, original powertrain.

My bosses brother-in-law had a million mile Accord, they offered him a new Accord in trade. He opted for a new Acura instead. They gave him a discount equal to the new "Accord" they would have given him.

Yes, he took it to the dealership for every service. It was his work vehicle (personal business) and he maintained it meticulously.

"Through the years, the car’s seatbelts, steering wheel and upholstery have worn out and been replaced. The fuel pump blew at 741,000 miles, drawing laughter from his kids when the car had to be towed."
http://www.pressherald.com/news/Honda-g ... lion+miles

"Joe, from Norway, Maine, has been logging an average of 62,500 miles on his 1990 Accord each year since he bought it in 1996 with 74,000 miles on the odometer. As Joe toppled 900,000 miles he decided to visit a local Honda dealer and let them know he was on a mission to hit 1,000,000 miles, which led to our initial report in June.
Aside from scheduled maintenance, Joe has made a few expected repairs, including replacing the fuel pump, both cooling fans and the radiator twice."

http://www.leftlanenews.com/million-mil ... miles.html

From another forum:
200 oil changes,
Two radiators
Both fans, twice.
OEM air, fuel and oil filters
presumably, lots of brake pads, rotors, suspension parts, a respray or two.. ect.
ONE speeding ticket.

Also, he's the second owner. Bought it with 70k

I think my stepdad is at 350k now on his Lexus LX470. There's three of them in the metro area from that generation with over 300k.

I wonder if Lexus would offer a new truck at one million?

Our 93 accord had 472k on it when we sold it to my brother's girlfriend, she still drives it. Rebuilt the engine and transmission once. It went through 2 teenagers learning to drive and hooning around in it too.

Seeing it again:
A parade to honor some poor white guy for being stuck in an economy car for his entire life and they give him another one? :chuckle:

On a more serious note, looking at the soulless eyes of the parade people as they went by was amusing.

No question. 90's Honda reliability is beyond impressive. Couple that with the fact that they are super easy to work on (and don't suck balls to drive like the Toyotas of the day). Glory days of care-free motoring.

Cool video.
