I was watching 2nr vision on tnn. There was a road racing competition with Honda Tech vs. Team Se-r. Team SE-R had many many high horsepower cars. Most of them in the 260-300 hp range. The honda guys were all motor with around 180 to the wheels on average. In the end, honda tech beat team se-r by 1.3 seconds. NX's, classic SE-R's and one 2001 sentra se, all turbo, ended up being beat by all motor honda civics and crxs. Hmm?

the hondas were also lighter and handled better. you forgot to mention all the bigger 200sx's. the nissans handled well, but the track was better for all motor cars than turbos

I think I saw this show last week, some guy challenged every guy at a track to beat his reaction time. First try he had a .776 in an S15, didn't look good, but it was his first time in the car at the track. Second try he hit .500 in a G35 sedan.

It was a .500 light.

there were no 240sx's present. Only FF nx's and se-r's. This is road racing not drag racing.

I don't u nderstand how the track didn't accomodate the turbo se-rs. You should have your engine in its optimum range at all while autoxing or road racing. You spend most time up near red line. That was a just a cop-out to explain why they got beat. The honda guys were obviuosly better drivers

they were better drivers, but the only time the turbos really got to spool was when they hit the straaights. the honda guys had better handling calls and yeah, were better drivers. and i said 200sx's not 240sx's.

oh yeah, I remember seeing that. that track was indeed not catered to the turbos, too curvy for them and not enough long straights.

uh, i think we did....

the honda hatches had way better suspension set-up and handling than the heavier nissans. and the all-motor engines were way better for that track.

I really can't see how a NA Honda motor would be much different, delivery-wise, than a Turbo motor. Hondas only have power like past 5k and I'm sure turbos are spooled by then...I didn't see the show but I'd guess the Hondas had better suspension/drivers and were lighter.

yeah, they were a lot lighter than the nissans and the suspension was rather nice. there were a lot of curves on the track, not enough time to spool the turbo. the NA motors didnt have to worry about lag, and lack of torque. face it, if you want to run a good curvy road race, honda makes some of the best motors to do it with.

It's been proven many times over that N/A cars are faster In the turns. Now, If the track had some up hill climbs, more straight aways, It would be a different outcome. Got to give credit where credits due, Honda won.

if i was going to build an autocross car, id opt for a Civic type R racing base model. every once and awhile J's Garage has one in stock for around $6000. very good cars for the track.
