The Honda 'Stream' a Versa sized 5 door hatch has been running around in Japan since 2000...word is they are going to send the newest redesign over to North American markets this year.

1.8 liter engine 5 speed a/t or a 2 ltr with a CVT. Thats the one I want to test drive.

Our Versa will be going to University in a couple of years so we are watching all the new 5 Door offerings with interest. So far, after many test drives of other models the only replacement for our 07 Versa, looks like another Versa....the Stream could change all that.

Honda makes great cars, used to drive one. So, is this Honda Stream suppose to be a new class of vehicles or is it suppose to compete against other sub-compact cars? What category does it fall under?

Every time Honda or any other car company redesigns a new car or creates something new for its class, I always get that vibe like they try to make something perfect and appeal to 'elite' people who think they have it all (i.e. Prius, Insight and Hybrids in general). In the long run, I see the vehicle having more problems than that it's worth when they release first generation automotive technology.

What's your take?

hey longo, you are so wrong this time. the stream looks too big for a subcompact. looks like a match with that new toyota crossover. good try though. go back to your honda forums now. read up the specs. this stream is a 7 passenger minivan.

Hey Grog - given the Stream is based on the Civic platform, the car is not really that big. Something worthwhile to look at for sure and competition for the Versa. Might even be worth playing the mancard on as you are always concerned about that

I love my Versa, and I love Nissan... but Honda might really have something here. I'd consider one myself, having a larger motor in a subcompact hatchback would be nice, and even nicer if it had either AWD or traction control (or both).

Once I determine my Versa to no longer be economically viable, I will start looking for a replacement. Right now, my needs are; AWD and/or traction control; Sunroof. This is what I want in my next car. Hopefully Nissan is listening. And I'm not considering upgrading to a Rogue either. Well, maybe.

this car is going to cost 22 to 25k delivered. that is the price of 2 versa program vehicles. why are you all talking about a honda minivan that's 9 yrs. old. the mazda 5 is a next generation sub minivan that.s 2 yrs. old in the technology pool. my girlfriend just bought a program mazda 5 for 13,900. you all who are jumping on the honda train will fork out plenty coin for this status driven car.

It reminds me of the original Odyssey, just smaller.

Hi, Why would this vehicle even be considered to be in the Versa class? This vehicle is known as a Mini-MPV. Its basically a Van by looking up some specs on the internet, it seated 8. Wow, maybe Versa is largely compared to other categories that in which it doesnt belong to, our small big car seems to be having alot of attention and im glad I got one. What about the Saturn Astra? A bit heavier car and more Horsepower, would that be a threat to Versa?

I hope you never get in an accident longo/Russian Bull. First I wouldn't wish ill upon anybody just because of their car - in addition, imagine how dumb you'll look with a riced up red Versa wrecked.

I'm with you on that one Andrew, but I find that it's not so much what you drive, but how you drive it that gets people into trouble.[IMG][/IMG

Ok there seems to be a lot of confusion about comparing the Versa to the Stream,so here's a few specs. The Versa Wheelbase is 2600 mm. The Stream is 2420 mm (8" shorter)

The Versa Length is 4295 mm. The Stream is 3995 (12" shorter)

The Vesa width is 1695 mm (66") The Stream is 1695 mm (Same)

The Versa height is 1535 mm (60 ") tThe Stream is 1545 mm About the same

So here's how they compare..the Versa Wheelbase is 8 "longer

The Versa overall length is 12" longer, they are identical in width and the Stream is about 1/2 " taller.

Now if they call the Stream a 7 passenger MPV (avaliable in AWD) in Japan then Heaven help those 5 trapped in the back.

My Specs on the 'Second Generation' Stream are from this site..

http://www.worldcarfans.com/30...tream

Edmonds numbers are different in length and wheelbase.

you have to bring cost of production into the equation.

considering the fact that the honda Fit costs more than the versa is giving me the idea that the honda stream will still be too expensive to be compared to the versa.
