seen this done for other engines just curious as to know if anyone on here has done it before or not

Yes, its been done. On many different levels, many different times. Some suck, some work fine. All about your welding ability and fabrication skills.

awesome what should be used as a guide though i heard the gasket is best. And i can weld a pretty nice bead but im still gonna take it to a shop to have it double checked

Go for it. Whats the worst that could happen? you waste a few bucks on steel. If you really want to go balls out there is a chapter in "Maximum boost" about manifold design, and I'm sure there is a plethora of info on the interwebz.
