Has anyone attempted to make their own harness bar? My brother works at a machine shop and it seems to me it should be very easy to make a couple brackets to mount to either side of the car behind the door and cut a piece of aluminum and weld it all together. The photo shows the location to be mounted and it seems like it would be a breeze to mount because of the access created by the auto-seatbelt motor. Feedback please...

Aluminum, welded to the steel body.... No
Mounted to the body, no

The ones you buy made from DOM steel mount to where the old seatbelt bolts when, then anchor to the bottom belt holes or in my case, the the cage. You need to have some structure.

Yeah, mounting a bar just to get harnesses to mount, sounds unsafe.

Why you need a harness bar? If there is a legit reason, then work it into the cage.

If it's to get manual belts... go find a 200sx and grab some.

Thanks guys, that is exactly what I needed to know. After posting this I got to thinking about the mounting location not being sturdy enough. I'll see if I can source some manual belts from the local junkyard. Is the 200sx the only model that will work?
