Nice job. I made a cardboard template for a single piece cooling panel a few years ago but gave it up when the bends started getting too complex and required patches to be soldered in.

I don't know how much impact the panel will have on cooling because I noticed the underside of the hood seals the entire area the panel would go anyway, try reaching into your air dam and feeling around. A fun project though.

I've always thought that too. It does, however, make everything look nice and clean up front.

Me and Kornaz were talking last night and came up with a good point.

Since our cars are so old some might've been in a slight accident or something, maybe even just due to age and chassis flexing the panels might not match up exactly so you might need to trim here and there if some things do not line up.

I'll be busy this week so I won't be able to make my real panel till the end of this week so I'm eager to see how everyones panel turns out.

Update!It's done!Here are pics

Traced it onto aluminum sheet metal, it is .032 gauge. Not too thick not too thin.

All cut out and painted. The middle piece was drying when I took the pic so it looks funny.

Before!

After. (Just mocked it up, I will bolt it in after I take off my bumper to install the intercooler)

Looks stock when you see it in person, looks like it belongs there since everything fits nicely and is painted black.

Done!

Very nice Razi. Here's a dumb question. How do you print default letter size? I printed out pic 4 at school with it's default settings and it was too small. When I tried it at work, it was too big...?

Go into Properties then on the "Paper/Quality" tab click "Advanced"Then you should see the "Paper Size" setting, set that to Letter and it should print out fine

Weapons of choiceThat huge file is from the 99 cent store. I used it to file down any major imperfectionsThen I used my dad's diamond embedded file to do the fine details to get it just right.

All those with a steady hand and some time can make a nice cooling panel.Bending is the hard part, I sandwiched the panel inbetween two exactly squared pieces of wood, no round edges.Squeeze the wood planks together with long screws and slowly bend the flap down against another piece of wood. Pain in the butt!

See if any local shops can bend it for you in the cheap.

I recommend staying around what I chose, .032 gauge aluminum. If it was any thicker it would've taken longer to cut and bend.

That looks awesome!

Is it cliché to put stickers on a cooling panel?

Or does it take away from the beauty of the cooling panel?

Would it stay cool enough for vinyl stickers to stay put?

One Love,

Ghasty

Not counting the tracing and making of the template.About a total of 4-5 hours while I took my time between 2 days.

Yeah we traced it then realized what we did and flipped and traced again.

Also, I'll be using the remaining pieces of aluminum to make a heat shield for my BMC.
