Homelink Mirror Reset/Program

I've seen a lot... and I mean ALOT of threads on this stupid and supposedly simply to program and use, but it's anything but! My question isn't about all the various steps with what to and not to do with what kind of garage door or opener you have, it's much, much simpler than that. I need to reset my Homelink mirror. Now, the instructions say to hold down the 2 outter buttons for 20-30 seconds and the red LED will flash to let me know it's been cleared. HOWEVER, when I do this the light NEVER blinks or flashes, slow or fast. All 3 Homelink buttons will turn the green LED red if pressed individually or together, however, they simply will not flash or blink when I hold down the 2 outter buttons to reset it, I've tried 20, 30, 60, 90 seconds and nothing. Is there something I'm missing here? Because I've read threads, instructions and watched videos and it all seems VERY simply and works just fine in videos. I guess my secondary question is, is it possible that it IS cleared and that's why it's not blinking? Although I don't think this is the case since it won't link up with my garage door opener remote OR my garage door motor. Any ideas?
