Why do the rich and the famous name their home? Is it out of distinction, value or material love? Is it because they simply refuse to be designated by a number? Well, they've done it for longer than we can remember, from Graceland to Neverland Ranch. Sometimes, the name derives from the actual history of the property. Sometimes it's a combination of the families names. Sometimes it's simply a play on numbers from the physical address. Funny enough, there are some that come about from the property location.

There are infinite methods, just how they come up with it is their business and it's anybody's guess as to how they do. Here in West Palm Beach, home to some of the wealthiest people in the world (albeit, "one" of their homes), there are names like Lost Tree, Playa Vista Isle Estate, Rocking Horse and Tres Bisitos.

But why should the financially elite have all the fun? I have dubbed my castle, Casa Disfare. It is a dirivitive of Italian words basically stating in loose terms that it is a neverending project. :chuckle:

So have you affectionately given calling to your house/property? If not, what would you name it? Be creative, provide a picture and tell why ....

Thanks! Did'nt look like that when I bought it ... it was a nightmare! Purchased it through a Short-sale, during which renters were living in it. They trashed the place, inside and out! So I've been doing mega work for the past few years, even adding on a back bedroom for my son to come live with me. All-in-all, I'm happy with how things are progressing.

So c'mon now, you need to be creative and come up with one! Pics too!

Do you have before and after pix on wut you've worked on? I would love to do something like that for our drive but we aren't putting much into this house. We want to just 1/2azz this house and our next buy will be our fixer-upper n' keeper!

The driveway is known as an overlay treatment. It's not stamped concrete, more of a concrete/adhesion mixture and was all shaped and colored by hand ... Here's the overlay application in process (note, my concrete driveway was in great physical condition to start):

Nice lawn! My front yard is all rocks. Eh, New Mexico and our lack of water. I was gonna name mine "Hearst Castle" but I just found out it had been taken.

EDIT TO ADD:Well played with the mods to your house! looks tons better. :dblthumb:

Thanks! If the other one is not in your area, I would think you could keep the Hearst Castle, just add onto it and call it Hearst Castle Rio Rancho. :dblthumb:

All good questions to ask.

I call my home "The Cave."
Location is awesome, but its a huge basement apartment with 3 windows (2 being large door windows). Unless you're in the second bedroom (no windows) it doesn't feel much like a basement.

2 days only. 1 for the application, and one for the stain.

This is our house... but their furniture. They made this to sell their house better. We haven't done major changes to it so it's pretty much still what it looks like (except a lot of asian influence now)

I shall call it... home

All I need is a giant round door. But i don't drink beer in my place. I feel it promotes laziness and gluttony.

I call my garage the "THUNDER DOME!!!" ..... And yes, you do have to yell it.

I think I would call my house "Sheet-rockers! Stick to sheet rock"

We bought ours last year and the former owner owned a failing sheetrocking business. He thought he could finish the basement himself, the sheetrock looked great until the pipes burst and filled the basement with water. Its all good though, he wired it himself and I had to tear all the walls out to fix the wiring anyway.
