A friend showd me this link, what do you people think??, if he get this kit and a wideband O2 kit, how would he fine-tune his car?

Ok, so this thing uses gear ratios, tire size and RPM to get an estimate of vehicle speed (which may be inaccurate under heavy acceleration, especially in 1st gear due to tire slip).

Then it takes the speed and integrates to get acceleration, which it can use in conjunction with vehicle mass to compute horsepower.

Ok, so how is this any different than a G-Tech Pro, except that it estimates acceleration from tires/gearing/rpm rather than measuring it directly as a G-Tech Pro does?

Btw, both of these methods require a very accurate estimate of the car's weight to give an accurate hp number, although for tuning purposes you just need a consistent number.

G-Tech is easier to install and has some additional benefits such as the ability to measure lateral acceleration.

Of course the new G-Tech's cost $100 more than they used to...

When you do the dyno run it is done at 2nd gear so there wouldnt be alot of tyre slip, also the computer can print out dyno sheets for comparsion with mods(exhaust, intake, intercooler, turbo... etc)

Also kit is only like a wire that clamps on the spark wires

last time i check the new gtech cost $250 thats like a $100 price difference

G-Tech Pro Competition can also datalog and print out lots of graphs, but yeah, it's $250.

The G-Tech Pro is only $140, but does not do all of that.

actually any dyno run should be done in direct drive, 4th gear.

no reduction = more accurate numbers

I don't expect exact figuges as far as horsepower compared to a chassis dyno as long as it is accurate in registering HP changes from the previous run, that's what I would use this for. It can be off as long as it is off the same amount consistently.
