sure there may be hundreds of those no name stbs out there everywhere, but we all know that you get what you pay for. all those bars are almost a complete waste of money IMO. im sure you all have seen the bars that you bolt to your firewall?? that would be pretty easy to make if you had the right equipment I would think, its definately worth trying atleast.

what i was thinking was just getting boxed steel and drilling a hole in both ends and bolting it to the strut. would be more solid than thoes ghetto *adjustable* ebay bars and cheap as crap.

well, in my opinion strut tower bars don't differ in quality too much. They are the one product i can think of that is on my car that is not name brand. I say get the ebay ones. When it comes down to it, they are just bars, with plates on the end.

I definately agree with you, I too have a noname bar right now. but you would hafto agree that the expensive cusco bars are stronger and will really hold up longer with fewer weak points than the cheap stuff. thats the beauty of making your own, product controll. you can make it as beefy as you feel like, hell if I had the tools and machines id make just about everything I could think of for my car.
hopefully your not talking about boltin straight to the strut itself are you?? like I said, if I had a welder I could just make some plates and weld the bar to them and bolt it all down, strong as hell. just my .2

IF you have the tools (welder, cutting metal), then you can builda strut bar. I myself have neither, so I just bought them froma local shop that makes it inhouse. And these are tri-point bars(they hook up to your firewall for front stb, and rear floorpan forreat srt).

yeah but would you rather have a chopped and drilled cusco strut tower bar, that is used and scratched etc, or a brand new perfect condition eBay bar. The choice is yours

Good lord, lots of threads about eBay bars these days.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Be careful when buying a bar off eBay. I bought one for $30 and it didn't let the hood close all the way once it was installed.
EDIT: My bar was only $10, but shipping was $17.99!? Wtf? Costs more to ship than the bar is worth? What bs.

OK back to the point of this question, yes you can. go to http://www.sr20deforum.com and do a search. If you can't find it, start asking around. Some there made a RSTB for his B13 / Classic / SE-R.I remember him basically making two plates, drilled 2 holes in each and the welded the cross bar to it. Nothing real fance. The bar fawkin' huge if I remember correctly. Obviously, that setup doesn't tell you much, other than it's nothing special to do.

i think i used 1'' pipe for the front, and 3/4'' for the rear. its very easy. just cut the pipe to the length. use a hammer or vice and flatten the ends. i used a pipe bender to make some small bends for the front. measure carefully and drill the 2 holes. the rear stb doesnt need any bends, but you have to cut out a little section of the thin metal thats in the way.
