I did this to my car recently and want to share. The very first version is garage door trim and the second version is Diamond Lok and this would be the version 3 I guess. I put this on my car to protect the painted lip(paid $100 for painting), but it should work fine if you directly attach it to the bumper.

It's a wall corner guard from Home Depot. I think it's a little over $8. Only clear finish is available. It would have been perfect if it comes in flat black color. :(

I cut it this way to make it fit on my lip.

I thought about spray painting it to black, but decided to put a vinyl sticker sheet. Vinyl(7 ft) was $8 from a sign shop. I wanted flat black color, but they didn't have any, so I had to get gloss black. There are pre-drilled holes on the corner guard and vinyl covers them nicely.

Installed on the car. I scraped it once, so I just peeled the vinyl and applied again. It's really strong material and it won't crack or break.

When you go to home depot next time, take a look at this corner guard. It's impossible to break. You might be able to bend it though, but it's made with incredibly strong plastic.
