I know this is a car audio forum, but I trust you guys and it's easier than joining another forum. I'm looking for a home audio reciever that's all kinds of goodness and won't break the bank. I'll be powering two large speaker towers (woofer, mid, tweeter) that I bought cheap and know nothing about.

So, what would you recommend? My only requirement (knowing jack crap about audio) is a rotary volume knob.

I picked up a new/used Pioneer AV/Receiver a couple years ago and it's great for the money. It has a rotary volume knob and offers a full function remote.

There have been a couple threads in Gen Chat about Home Audio ... I'll see if I can find them.

Onkyo. Probably three or four hundred dollars.

DENON

i dont care what price point. they are the jam and never die. EVER. just make sure you buy from a good dealer (not some cheapo online place) because you dont want to get B-stock. I used to sell high end home audio and have compared almost every receiver. Denon my friend.

Simmsled! You're back. Yey! WE've been holding down the fort in your abcense.

ANyways, are you looking for two channel sound or surround sound? Or currently two channel with the possibility to expand?

Either way, I'd recommend any of the name brands. Just stay away fro insignia(BB) and KLH(CC).

Just about any receiver will be able to drive most speakers to reasonable volumes.

I suggest that you check out the local advertisements in the sunday paper. Then when you find somethign that you think is good and meets your price requirements post the details and we'll tell you more about it
