hey all. well heres my predicament:
I orderd a performance chip off ebay (just cause it was cheap and I wanted to know if they work or not). so i wired it up to my mafs and nothing happened. then about a day later i start up my car and its idling horribly. i start to take off and its acting like the mafs isn't working, then i start to smell fryed wiring inside the car. i pull over and my mafs electrical input is melted and fryed to sh*t (F*CK!!!). so i go out the next day and get a new mafs from the wrecker and put it in. I go start the car, and its acting the exact same, like the mafs isn't working. the one thing i did notice is when i connected the wires i could here the motor adjust just slightly, it sounded like the throttle opened just enough to let a whisper of air through, however it still ran very bad. as it lies, i CAN drive it, but its very rough and is running so rich i can almost watch my gas gauge drop.
now heres my theory, let me know if i'm on the right track or not. when i think back, the smell of the burnt wiring the day it first started was quite strong inside the car, could it be possible i toasted my computer?now if this is infact what i did, i was thinkin "hey, good time to swap in the computer from an automatic to get rid of my speed restrictor"
which brings me to my next question: If i do indeed end up needing a new computer, is the automatic and manual 240s' computers 100% interchangeable? will this be a plug and play job, or is there more to it then that?
