some of those are retarded. why the hell would you ever swap a twinturbo v6 vg30dett for a turbo 4 cyl sr20det? that guy should be *****slapped. however that s13 with the vg is bad as hell. maybe they traded ;]

Better weight distribution? Power isn't everything (especially when you drive sideways). Maybe this one will stick so that next time somebody posts a thread about "What engine swaps are available?" everyone can flame them and post this link... Maybe not...

very few, if any, of those are done in the name of performance, for the most part those are done to be different.

Like that Japanese Skyline that runs a VG30DETT inorder to meet limitations of 500 horsepower? I'll find a link to a magazine article (when I'm not to busy being lazy).

Interesting swaps for sure! Some I don't agree with...like the SRs in Skylines and Zs. I do understand that there are all sorts of reasons people may have done those swaps.

If they're like TopSecret who has a Supra that has an RB26DETT in it, they may have done it to show off they're tuning ability.

The same reason JGTC Toyota Supras were prepared by TRD with the 2.0 3SGTE engine replacing the 3 liter 2JZGTE inline 6, and with that 2000cc 4 banger producing 500 horsepower (GT500 class) reliably, it did hang with and beat those V8 modenas and V6 acura NSXs and mclaren v12's and whatnot. Why did they swap out the 3.0? because they could get same power from a smaller and lighter package, and mount it lower and further back in the chassis. in this case, advantage = small powerplant.

My favorite hybrids are 20B in a AE86 and a RB26DETT in a FC3S.

I dig the 1JZ-GTE in the Holden. Crazy Aussies...

'cuz the 3 rotor believe it or not messes the car's balance.

An ls1 (corvette engine) is much lighter than even the 13b aluminum stock engine and sits further back than a 20b. Visit wrongmotor.com for more details.

Not too shabby, but my personal favorite would have to be a 2jz-gte in a s13! Most of you may have seen this already im sure, but for those who havent, you missed a real treat:
