F#*k me running!!!

I called IOK (Infiniti of Kirkland) to schedule my 45k mile service.....and they told me that it costs $647.50!!!!

What you get: All fluids except transmission All filters except transmission Wipers Balance & Rotate Brake inspection General diagnostics Factory reset of computer management system

WTF!!!!

I can do the fluids for $40......wipers for $15.....rotate & balance for free....brand new brakes all around including a full system bleed for $100.

But if I don't let the dealership do it will it void my 9 year/100,000 mile warrantee I bought?

Ask them the pricing for just the last 2 and handle the rest yourself. My guess is the labor to do all the other is driving the price way up, and your labor is much cheaper for basic fluids/filters.

as long as you have documented history, they should honor it......

Infiniti may honor your warranty but if you buy extended warranty, they are more picky regarding to having their car service at specific dealerships.

I called the warranty people and they said as long as documentation proves the work was done at the required intervals then everything is good.

As for the last two items....I have access to a Nissan CONSULT II and Nprobe. That's more diagnosis than IOK can do. And for reseting to factory defaults....F#*K THAT! It took me an hour to figure everything out when I bought the car. I don't want them resetting the setting I put in. I can reset the ECU and transmission computer myself....but why would I wanna do that? If I reset the ECU the it has to relearn how I drive for about 280 miles. While learning it goes into a fuel mapping that is almost WOT.....that's all I need at $2.61/gal for super....

I guess that's why they call them "Stealerships"....

Here is a thread I did on local Infiniti dealer prices:

zerothread?id=148207

With their "coupon", the 45k mile service (use the number for 15k miles service in the picture I show) is lower than what you had. For first-gen Q45, it is $269.88 and for later year Q45s and M45s, it is $349.88.

My 67,500 service on IceT was $125.00, but they did find a nail in my front tire, and suggest I have the rotors turned ($140 more).

Of course, it helps when you take your car to the same dealership since it was new.

If the car has had only dealership service, then I suggest you keep it up, to keep the value up on the car. But, if it has been touched by Jiffy Lube or Xpress Oil, then who cares anymore.

I like the free loaner and complete detailing they do for ANY service I have done, whether it is on my "old" Q or my "new" I. It is kinda fun driving around in a G35 that is not mine. I have almost got that autostick figured out. I just wish the new G35 didn't have that damn traction control "SLIP" shows up all the time on the instrument cluster. It is kinda cool just keeping the fob in my pocket and turning a knob on the dash to start it.

Sorry, started rambling there....

At least you guys don't have to get your timing belts changed every 60k miles.

No, but you are better off setting up a vehicle maintenance saving account.

Every mile you drive deposit 10 cents per week from brand new! Pay every maintenance and repair from the account. That way the car always has a reserve in CASH for what it needs............if you trade you have EXTRA CASH to put down.

After the warranty expires bump up this per mile reserve progressively and add an extra $1000 per year.

Almost no car requires more than $3,000 per year cumlative from day one.

My 90 Q has consummed just at $39,000 for maintenance and repairs [nothing cosmetic] = 12.8 cents per mile to cover the 305,000 miles.

Just a little more than $35,000 in gasoline...........not even $135,000 [purchase + insurance annual tax/tagover the past 15.5 years =$8,700 per year.

The most expensive year [without depreciation] was around $11,000 and the least $6600 except for the first paying cash [$36,000] for the car.

Big heavy powerful lux cars are not cheap to own NEW or USED!

People buying them for $3,000 needing $3-6-$10k of work are still getting quite a deal assuming they last a few years.

It is still a $60K car when it goes in the shop. The only discount you received was the purchase price for the deferred maintenance not or yet to be performed.

$600+ dollars for the 45.000 service??i'm surprised to hear that, as one thing i've always been happy withis the relatively inexpensiveness of (actual dealer) service... althoughi don't have the receipts in front of me, my 45.000 mile @ Pepe Infiniticost me somewhere in the very low 300+ dollar range!! that's 50% less than"IOK" where you called.... i dunnnooo. i hope you didn't end up goingthere, seems a bit unscrupulous to me..

my mother owns a 2000 ES300 and i know that wh3en she takes it into Lexus, for ANYTHING- it's big bucks. Infiniti has been, for my money(and my father who drives a 2001 i30) anyhow- easy to take.

i hope you have found a diff. place to do the maintainence (i guess i shouldread the threads to find out!!) and hopefully you can stick w/ Infiniti technicians;i know it puts my mind @ ease for the "major" if u can call it that- servicings.

Watch out for IoK or IoF , they are owned by the same guy that owns the Sound Auto Group...... enough said. If you're looking for good service in the Seattle area try Greg's Japanese Auto.

I learned my lesson with Infiniti of South Center. The cars are great the service is less than........
