Hello. I am looking for decent low dust brake pads for my 1994 Nissan 240SX convertible

Although I do not have ABS, I believe the front pads are the ABS pads, from when I R&R the pads a few years ago. I don't remember replacing the rear pads. so I have no idea.

I am sure you know that the 1994 240SX only came in a convertible model, and there may be some differences between the 1994 and the earlier S13 years. I was told the spark plugs are different....

I hear the names Ceramicool, Axxis Ultimate, Hawk. Then Rotora, Akebono ProACT, Satesfied Pro Perform.... and of course the Adance Auto and AutoZone and NAPA parts stores

I ask for points of contacts (if possible) along with opinions. What brad will fit, and where can I fnd them...

I am in Springfield VA 22153

J Barry Burneskis sends many thanks

hi J, and WELCOME to NICO and 240sxConvertible.com!

You are correct, your 94 used ABS pads and rotors, even tho it doesn't have ABS. Nissan did this to compensate for the extra weight of the convertible.

To answer your question, the problem with "low dust" brake pads, in my experience, has been this: They suck.

I'm a HUGE fan of Axxis Metal Masters and Hawk HP Street compound pads.

Hawk & Axxis are good.

I also believe that the Hawk street pads are low dust compared to the Axxis brake pads.

Thanks, brokeas240SX

I guess I will order the Hawk ceramic pads off tirerack.com Hawk also seems to carry the rear pads. I will get the front and see what happens over the next three months..

I just cannot get the dust crud off the stock aluminum rims ('94 convertible). I pull the wheels off and have a go at the rims and tires with steel wool (brillo) but it is a losing battle.

I just took four stock '94 rims to a POWDER COATER to have the rims

(1) bead blasted(2) dipped for residure removal(3) 'sparkily' silver powder applied(4) baked at 400 degrees for 15 or so minutes.(5) removed, cooled and clear (milky white) powder applied(6) baked at about 375 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

This guy was going to charge me $80 to do the job, but I convinced him to charge me $100!! I thought $80 was too cheap and I only wanted a fair price, fair to both of us.

So when I get the rims back (three are extra rims) I want the low dust pads to see the results.
