I found something i never really was expecting to find so i felt it was necessary to start a new topic to get more exposure/answers.

Some of you may known that i have been working on my intake manifold recently to fix a vacuum leak. And i did in fact find where the sub-manifold-to-head gasket was leaking. However i also managed to see this after i took everything off.

Every dirty *** valve is a butterfly controlled port. Why is it so dirty and what can i do to fix this without taking apart the top end? I have managed to clean out the runners since these pictures but i am stumped on how to clean off the valves.

Because if you don't romp on it and open those valves up often enough, they just get grunged up with blow by. Also, they don't get bathed in fuel to help clean them out.

If only we had 8 injectors with the butterfly ports being 'secondaries' :D

Mine were like this when I got the engines

hahaha my engine was like that too when i opened it up ...........i went out and got a 4port head thinking it would allow better flow for me .....then realized the 4 port head will never have that problem ........because the air and fuel get distributed evenly through the ports .....vs the 2ndary port on the 8port head only receiving air when you step on it

I was thinking if i disconnect the butterfly actuator via the vacuum hose the butterflies stay open right? So seafoam the engine with the butterflies disconnected and it should clean up all 8 ports right?

Those were technically questions but i assume you were agreeing with my plans so thanks for a little bit of reassurance.

if you just disconnet the actuator, you still need to do something to keep them open. the actuator is what opens them, it does not hold them shut.
