Well I made my own boost controller yesterday and went to try it out today. Apparently the spring I used was a little stiffer than I thought it was. I put it in second and stomped on it from about 35mph, the turbo spooled to about 1.25-1.5 BAR(about 18-21psi) and the tires broke loose. That is, ofcourse, WAAAYYY too much boost for an SR T25. I'll have to go back to the hardware store and find a softer one. I think I went from 35-75 in about 2 seconds though. My fiance was with me and she just said, "HOLY ****!". Then we both had the biggest **** eating grins on our faces. I think she just likes me for my car sometimes...

Oh it feels good don't it ! Now just think what that much boost will feel like like on a much efficient blower.

I'm scared to even think about this kinda boost on a T28, or even a T3/T4. I'd need WWWAAAYYYY bigger tires!

LMAO @ c-rad. Where the hell is the infinity button on the keyboard? JK!!!

Zero-grip;Well it didn't bat an eye at the boost it got from T25. I only did it twice, and from watching the controller the 2nd time, it was knocking a little, but nothing that I could hear. It was 91 octane in the tank as well, and yes, I'm running 9.5:1 compression.

I have a knock sensor and the SDS will tell you in the second gauge screen when it's knocking by changing the degree symbol to a "K".

I'm taking it to the dyno on monday and I went and bought 5 gallons of Toluene today.

(05 Gallons of toluene @ 114 Octane) +(10 Gallons of pump gas @ 92 Octane)-------------------------------------------------- 15 Gallons of "Rocket Fuel" @ 99.3 Octane

I figure that even if I decide to get stupid and turn the boost up with this turbo again for a couple of dyno pulls, that will prevent even it from detonating at that kind of boost.

I'm such a dyno queen....

I have never liked knock sensors. I have never found them to be accurate. Too much noise from the motor makes them go crazy.

All I am saying is, do not rely on it totally.
I couldn't agree with you more, BUT it is a nice "safety net" if you will. From driving it for the last few weeks, I've got it so that it won't pull back timing in a daily driving situation for sure. I've only actually HEARD it knock twice since the rebuild. Once on my first day of tuning, and then once again with my stupid MBC. I can adjust the sensitivity of the Knock sensor with the SDS and also tell it to ignore any noise over a certain RPM. I think it might have saved me some trouble this last time when it overboosted with the MBC, so I'm thankful for it.

Yea, I've used Toluene a bunch of times. I'm hoping to go out to the drags this week, and maybe the dyno as well, and I intend on running the toluene again. It works great. I have NEVER, not even once, heard my motor knock when I was running a toluene mix. It's good stuff. Just don't fill the tank with it because it doesn't like to vaporize until it gets pretty hot. BUT it has a higher energy output per weight/volume (I don't remember which) than gasoline, so you could actually make slightly more power, simply by running the toluene.

ill just make the tolouene witches brew instead of running an ethanol mix now

how much/where did you find yours? ive only found it really expensive. sciencelab.com is $34 for a liter

I just bought a gallon yesterday from Sherwin Williams, I didn't get the hookup I normally do, so I paid $13 for it.

i can tell you boost is a hell fo a thing, i was tuning a little this weekend and was running 20psi (on a T3/T4 50T .63) and my 245's were breaking loose in 3rd @ 5000rpm from a roll hehehe.. dont tune on the street. trying to counter steer and keep the laptop in the car as you whip from side to side is tough..

See, SDS, and it's little controller have it's advantages! I've done that a time or two with the controller in one hand, and counter steering with the other! LOL!!!
