Just bought the Swedish magazine Bilsport, usually boring but this time they had an interesting car featured!

Nissan Cherry Turbo "Wok Edition"

SR20DE engine from Nissan Primera GT:

*JE pistons*Saenz rods*Stock crank*Stock valves*Custom cams*Springs and retainers from Kelford Cams*Custom intake with 75mm TB*Iveco truck IC*3.5" exhaust*Custom tubular manifold*Garrett GT42R turbo*Dual Bosch -044 pumps*Bosch 1600cc injectors*Autronic SMC standalone

Result: 915hp/883Nm at 2.9 bar.

Tranny? Volvo 850 5-speed gearbox and axles. Volvo brakes as well.

Best ET: 10.18 and 236 km/h at the first try, more after the winter.

Sadly, that power comes at 11 billion rpm.

Still, this DE+T proves that the SR is one hell of a motor.

8300 with the sort of turbo lag I'd expect out of a GT42 would take an awful long time.

I still thing a GT30 or 35 might yield a better 1/4 with a larger powerband, but again, this is cool.

LLLAAAAGGGGG!!! that's it, and when he finally hits max boost it probably spins like a MOFO. On a +60mph roll, that thing would BEAST!

First test run on low boost, takes time to adjust and make everything work. Can´t say it´s bad, most guys wont hit a low 10 in a life time.

I´ll report here this summer, very close to race season.

hell of an engine! what is low boost? you posted it makes [email protected], is that right? 2.9 bar equals about 41-42psi, is that even possible? whats the compression ratio? also post a pic or two here plz

I think the GT42R is the perfect turbo for the SR20. That's what we run on our race car and it response very quickly. Going to a smaller turbo will make less power, so how can you expect the car to go quicker? Why are people so scared of big turbos?

Almost all big name tunning companies run, 40R's and 42R's, its how you make power, look at AMS's EVO thats running 52lbs of boost out of a 42R (I believe I read that in a magazine, correct me if im wrong). A big block with 650hp is running low 10's though, thats why I said for all that HP those times were'nt that good.

In a straight line, having more power is pretty much always a good idea.

However, if I were actually driving the car (yaknow, that stuff that involves turns) a 42 would be pointless and stupid.

I think he ran 18psi at the 10 sec run.The Madtech S14 boosted 3.25 bar.

Logan, he ran 400hp something that time and just took it out from the garage, we will see crazy ET´s from this car.

What A/R is that 42? Just curious. Also, that AMS Evo (one of many) put down, I beleive, 988awhp on 42-45psi, somewhere in that range.

3.25 bar........?!?!?!?!

Master Chief: Yeah, stock sleeves.

HurryupandrunS13: Turbine A/R is probably around .90 to 1.05.

Don´t know why but our dyno´s always show lower numbers at the same set up.The tuning shop can adjust the dyno to show more or less hp in % and I guess our companies set them low to be safe or some US companies set them high to make the customers happy.

One example: A Volvo 850T bottom can handle around 330bhp before the rods bend, in USA we see people dyno 330whp without even tuning them correctly. When you compare the cars we always put down higher trap speeds with lower hp on paper.
