Bah $2500/semester is still pretty damn cheap. But yeah, I did pay $11/credit last year.

I'm not saying it's peanuts, but it's all relative--those numbers are close to average:

At four-year public institutions, tuition and fees average $579 more than last year ($4,694 vs. $4,115, a 14.1 percent increase).

At four-year private institutions, tuition and fees average $1,114 more than last year ($19,710 vs. $18,596, a 6.0 percent increase).

These are last year's numbers ('03-04). Add another 14% for '04-05 and you're over $5k/year.The lesson here is don't go to a private institution unless you're pretty sure you can make a wad of cash after you get out. I think degreed people make $10k/year on average more than non-degreed people, or something like that. After taxes, $10k/year salary doesn't really justify spending $20k/year on tuition!

And then, of course, there's USC:

Estimated Undergraduate Costs for 2 Semesters living on/off campus (not with parents or relatives) taking 12-18 units. (This budget is based on a flat rate of tuition for 2 semesters). Tuition and mandatory fees $30,512 Room and Board (on campus or off campus / not with parents or relatives) $8,998 Books and supplies $650 Transportation $580 First semester Orientation fee $140 Miscellaneous expenses $1,634 Total estimated costs ***$42,514***

170 THOUSAND DOLLARS JUST TO GET A COLLEGE DEGREE.

I'd have to disagree with you and say I don't mind spending what I do per year for school, because I will make a hell of a lot more with this Mechanical Engineering degree than I would without it. And coming from one of the better engineering schools, will make it pay off even more.

And for the person thats crying over $207/ credit hour.....cry me a river. I'm paying roughly $875/credit this semester. After fees and such, my university costs $16500/semester. I guess thats the price you pay for a pretty well known private engineering school.

Sadly, that's why I go to Cal Poly Pomona rather than USC. I got in, but there was no way I could afford it. Or for that matter, it wouldn't be worth it for me. I get a great education where I am and I pay CSU fees. Saving some serious change.

Ya Purdue tuition alone is like 3,800 a semester in state and if your out of state it's like 20,000 a year for tuition alone. So I would say your getting a deal

I pay 5g's canadian. 3750 USD for a year full course load. But I go to one of the most expensive Universities in canada. The most expensive school here is a law school that charges 25g's cdn a year.
