I believe that people have had success using the holset turbo. I rember reading a post about this a while back, some dude had put a holset from a dodge cummins on his 2.3 litre mustang (sorry for the profanity) and had quick spool up and made decent power. I wish I could give you some numbers, but I was impressed none the less.

Not sure if the hx40v is from the cummins.

hx40 might too big unless you were planning on 500 hp.i would suggest hx35.

expect full boost around 4000 rpm.

My plan was to make 500hp. I know it will take alot of work, money, and tuning, but I have alot of free time.

Does anyone have a better idea for a turbo that can reach that with faster spool.

IIRC the hx35 was the cummins turbo...

big turbo + faster spool = ball bearingsCheck out klattr's setup (he's 400+hp)

I was modeling my build off of klattr's car. But I thought I would try something different.

We were running a Holset HX35W from a Dodge Cummins TD, only use this turbo if you plan for 16 psi or more, it has lag, but when it hits, it hits. No numbers from that setup car was totaled out soon after, now the parts are sitting at the shop.
