So I was looking to get your guys Opinion about how the GT35R will spool against the holset HY35, here is a video of my HY35 on my car (RB25,topmount,greddy intake, 550 injectors, big *** front mount, grand national coil pack,90mm TB and most of all AEM > (goodbye MAFM) cometic head gasket and APR studs ............ what I am looking to know is if the GT35R (compressor-61.4mm induction wheel diameter,-82.0mm exduction wheel diameter, -trim 56, -a/r .70) could spool as soon as the Holset 3000 RPM > ?whats your guys opinion on this and or a nice snail match for my RB setup.....For me I am looking for 400 to450 WHP, so I am thinking this can be dun with around 18PSI with an efficient turbo and nice turbo motor combo.I was hoping the GT35r would spool up as early as the Holset> like in the video I posted up on here, and I am open to other turbo fits on this setup.

thanks

here is a video and picture of the engine bay.....

Well my 35r which is a t4 hotside .68 A/R and the same compressor housing as the one your talking about spools at like 1500. 2000 its making like 3-4 psi. Full boost (14-15psi) right now is around 4400 ish. Give or take. This is through a stroked out and bored 25 around 2.7 liters in displacement. Also basically no timing as been added yet, and I have an adjustable exhaust cam gear to play with to also help the lag. (tunings not done if you have read my other thread)

well thanks for the impute on your motor and turbo match, its something to start with in finding what works for my set up.......... O yea as for as fueling and especially timing gos, its not aggressive yet.ya see I got this HY35 rebuilt at TURBO TEC here in tacoma last july (553.00) bucks and failed in October (4 months) and I am thinking its the thrust bearings that failed and allowing shaft play, thus shaft to make lite contact with the housing and massive amounts of oil to blow past the seals, now the guys at TURBO TEC are saying turbos on diesels are not made for gasoline engines???????? I know they tipicly run any where from 20 to 25 PSI and I am running no more than 14-15 psi......... though at higher RPMs (7500) ....... mabe my blow off valve is not big enough and some of the charged air is being forced back threw the turbo and wearing against the thrust bearings till they failed? well any how will take the turbo to TURBO TECHNOLOGY today and Ill let ya know what they say........

the car dropped 300 to the wheels with conservative fueling and timing > this was around 13 to 14 PSI, A week or so after the dyno, my brother gave it more timing, making it feel a lot stronger, 5 to 7 grand, after that I could only guess around 330 to 340 ?

As for the mani, its a 300 buck Ebay special that I spent some time modifying the back runner ( for the 4" reducing to 3" down pipe) collector angle (clearing the valve cover ) and adding another runner to join to the 38mm to now 50mm WG,the 38mm from what many people say on here was just not big enough, so I just did it while it was apart

I don't know how I missed this thread the first time around. What did you ever come up with? If you were looking for more power, I would have just looked at the 7 blade HX35. The GT35r is more HX40 size--actaully the 40 is a little bigger with quicker spool, but it's the closest. I'd say the HX35 is like a GT30r and the HY is like a GT28 something or other.
