A hollowed cat is the same a a straight pipe. Your 0 - 60 will suck. However, your 50 - 80 will improve dramatically. I went for 6 months with a 2 1/2" pipe from the header to a 5" muffler. No cat, or resonater was installed. I got crappy gas mileage but a huge performance gain for highway power. All top end no bottom. When you remove the restrictions from the exhaust it allows air to flow more freely. This creates virtually no back pressure. I used to shoot flames out of the exhaust because the unburned gas is not being trapped by the cat like it should. If you are to do this upgrade. I would highly reccomend a cool air intake as well as an upgraded ECU to control your gas consumption.

If you don't have a bunch of stuff done I wouldn't bother. If you are bored and don't have emmissions knock yourself out. Make sure your exhaust isn't rust out before this because it may not want to got back on and you may end up with broken bolts and etc.

No one really mentioned that it makes the exaust noticably louder if you have a catback installed. Also, ask yourself how often you travel between 60-80mph. Probably not as often as stoplight to stoplight. Low end torque is what makes our cars great. I put the cat back on my latest car.

I did it when i had my ka and it made it feel slower high and low RPM's,And did make the exhaust sound alot more raspy and loud.Dont do it.I ended up getting a random techonlogy hi flow cat.It made the car feel and sound 10 times better.

bleh i think hollowing a cat is pointless. You wont really see a big enough difference to justify having to buy another cat later for when you need to smog your car.
