What are people's thoughts drilling holes in the stock coil pack cover for ventilation? I know it traps in heat and reduces coil life, so a lot of people just take them off. And I've seen a couple of custom covers made, but not much of anythings on drilling holes in the factory piece. I was thinking of about 8 holes, 3/4" in diameter (not exactly sure on how big, but probably as big as can be while still leaving some space between the letters so it still looks pretty much normal).

As I think float said it looks like "steamed a**" without it on, so I would like to keep it. I'm not much of a fan of the shiny metal pieces I've seen so I would like to keep the factory one.

Thanks

for ca's the oem center piece is the best one. i have about 12 holes drilled in the cover when i moved to florida from new jersey. still looks stock yet has ventilation benifits! i say go for it. you can always just get another cover if u decide to swithc back

For ventilation without unsightly holes put some thick washers under the cover to lift it up off the valve covers and bolt it down.

Hmmm, I never thought of that. I didn't know how much ventilation they really needed, but that sounds like a good idea as well.

I have seen RBs where they took sheetmetal and punched a row of louvers in it to replace the coil cover. It looked pretty cool.

You could also take a dremel and cut holes in any number of cool shapes and then braze some mesh to the underside that would show through. How about cutting CA18 into it?
