Is there supposed to be a hole in the coolant bottle halway down the upper part of the filler neck. Mine has a perfect hole that sits at the bottom of my bottle. The reason i ask is that i think it s for when the system overflows it dump coolant out from there? I want to knoe because the hoses up top have no pressure, i can squeeze them and hear air cpme from the hole in the bottle. If it not supposed to br there please tell me what to do about it.

it is a vent as the temps at which water is dumped into the overflow tank are normally hot this allows pressure to escape from the tank and to push back into the cooling system.

not sure I understand correctly, but if you can squeeze your radiator hose and it hisses out of the overflow, you need a new radiator cap or your cap is not locked on all the way, if you have a hold in the bottom of the overflow and it holds no fluid then you need a new resivior, there is supposed to be a vent to allow for air to escape as small amounts of coolant get pushed into the container but when ti cools this should be drawn back in, if you have coolant coming out, if there is no improper hole and you are having coolant come out of your overflow, you have a bad rad cap, or severly overfilled resivoir, or a blown hg forcing air into the cooling system

OK i understand that there i supposed to be a hole in my resivoir coolant bottle for the overflow ccolant. Now the question i have is why when i squeeze my radiator hoses they have no pressure. When i squeeze them the air come out of the hole in cooalnt bottle. Are the hoses supposed to be hard or soft when i squeeze them?

the hoses should be reletively soft when not sunning but there shoud be no coolant coming out of your overflow with the car off and squeezing the hose, I'd start by replacing the radiator cap
