i have a 90 240sx with a KA24E with about 95K. last year i was driving on the freeway next to one of my friends...when we finally reached about 105mph i let off the throttle and cruised it to a slower pace and went to work...after work was done i noticed that my car was much louder than before at idle.....took a look underneath and my resonator blew a huge hole through it. so i replaced it and again...with my same friend on the same freeway, at about the same speed it happened again except this time to my muffler....so i havent fixed it and its loud as f**k! ive asked around and an auto teacher said it had something to do with my air injection?? has anybody ever heard or had this situation happen to them?

heres a pic of the resonator...now imagine that on my muffler and twice as big!

Maybe your exhaust components don't like you going 105mph on the freeway! Or they might not like your friend!

Stop driving fast and it won't happen again.

well ive understood the whole speeding part....and believe me im not the type to do that all the time...those were the only two times ive ever drove that fast before.....but i was just wondering why its unusual...im sure others have pushed their car pretty fast and nothing has happened. but thanks for all the feedback.

105 on the freeway!?! You deserve to have your car come apart on you. I read about morons like you in the news all the time.

Aw, c'mon... you've never opened your car up before just for kicks? I guess in TX we have plenty of highway to spare...

PS, your trucks wheels don't match (spiral is the wrong way)

And to the OP, I don't think going 105 on the highway blew out your exhaust, it was probably just coincidence- your exhaust is pretty old if it's stock.

of course we got plenty of highway room in texas, i nailed 120-130 in my car and held that for an hour, while blasting through waco at said speed.

Haha, that's where I live currently... you were right to get through it as fast as possible, this place sucks. Can't wait to get back to Austin.

Woo for speeding in texas. got my hardbody up to about 105 out in west texas. But yea, i'd probably call it just weak exhaust from being old, i know mine's developped a few holes in the muffler.
