Are the window supposed to roll down when the button on the fob is held down? My 98 maxima did this but my 99 q45 doesn't. Is there a way to program it to do so or is it not a option on the 99 q45?

My 94 does this, I'd be surprised if they re-gressed a FOB feature. Took me a while to change some of the other functions (no noise, interior light on), so amybe it's just a feature that needs to be programmed into the remote.

Falk, Duy, Brian any insight?

if i hold the unlock key (the button on the left) it sets off the panic feature, i.e. lights on and off and the horn blowing. wish i could figure out that window roll down thing!

Besides a cool factor, what purpose would it serve? Now, if the windows were down when you lock the car, they should roll up, that to me would serve a purpose.

Its nice on a hot day just to air out the car before you get in it.

As for the windows rolling up I have that feature on my rx-7 and it nice and it scare a lot of people. One time I was at the 7-eleven getting a slurpy and I had the car parked outside with the windows down. I noticed a guy looking at my car and then he stuck his head inside to "look around"; just then I armed the alarm and the windows started rolling up with his head still in the car. The look on his face was priceless. He saw me coming up to my car and started cursing at me because I almost caught his head in my car. I just responded by saying that I didn't give him permission to have his head inside so f-off. Then I drove away laughing at the guy.

Yep, the roll down feature os good for starting to cool the car off, but remote start and turning on the AC would be better, just haven't gotten there yet.

As for the roll up function, I think it's safety minded to not function that way, as getting any part of someone caught would/could cause harm and make the car owner responsible .

I seem to remember that feature on the 97 or 98 LS400 I test drove back in 200 when I bought my Q. I was looking at that as a feature the LS had that the Q didn't. Of course the real feature I lost was 5th gear!!! Oh, and that ulgly Lexus body style, i was not ever a big fan, but I did like the car alot overall.

I'm sure I could figure out how to reverse the roll down function and make it roll up instead if anyone was interested. Safety could be an issue like Rex said. The aftermarket roll up/down controllers have a current sensing cut off so if the load gets too high they stop, hopefully just shy of severing your neck! I installed a remote start on my '94 and it is nice in the summer. Don't use it much in the winter around here in Phoenix.

I never got around to wiring into the OEM roll down circuit with my aftermarket alarm but that'd be a nice system to tap into and would be much easier and cheaper if you wanted to add roll down/up functions to an aftermarket system since they were nice enough to build it into the car. I think I'll have to do some testing and research and figure that out. I'll be sure to make a write up for you all when get the information together.

Interesting that the Y33 doesn't have that feature. Our 99 I30 does...
